1 killed during shooting on Indy’s near northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A person died after being shot on the near northwest side of Indianapolis.

Around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, police say they were called to the 1800 block of Winfield Avenue in response to a person shot.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a resident told them he and another man were having a dispute in front of his home. The man then got into his car and began to leave when the resident shot into the vehicle. The vehicle traveled less than a block before it crashed into another vehicle.

Wednesday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased man as 31-year-old Tony McClain Jr. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say this was an isolated incident between two people who knew each other.
