1 dead in shooting on near northwest side, police investigating

Editor’s note: We initially reported the shooting victim was a man, but police updated us Monday morning and said he was a juvenile.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) are investigating a person shot on the near northwest side of the city.

IMPD said officers responded to a 911 call of shots fired and a person down at Wildwood Village Apartments on the 3500 block of Woodfront Court just after 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Police found a teen boy who was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. On Tuesday, the victim was identified as 16-year-old Elijah Taylor.

IMPD said he was found outside, but they have not said where the shooting took place.

Homicide detectives responded and canvassed the area for witnesses.
