2 dead in double shooting on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a shooting left two dead on Indy’s east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the 2800 block of N. Shadeland, near a motel south of the intersection of 30th and Shadeland.

Police said officers arrived on scene and found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators said one man, 28-year-old Dailon Downing, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man, identified as 33-year-old Aaron Hamilton, was initially listed in critical condition and then transported to the hospital where he later died.

At this time, no further information has been released as the investigation is active and ongoing.

A separate second deadly east side shooting occurred half an hour later.

Just after midnight, IMPD investigated a fourth homicide on Troy Avenue. A woman was found fatally shot inside a car by officers patrolling the area.
