Reed Wierks- US Army, WWII and Korean War Bobby Rakes - Army Marlin Ford - US Army WWII This is Judith K. Dailey. She is from Marion Indiana. Born and raised in Marion. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. She served from 1979-1989 as a Sergeant. Judi, was the first Lady Marine to be assigned to the combat unit HMH-362 at New River Air Station Jacksonville NC. Judi was also, the first Lady Marine to become Commandant of the Marine Corps League Tripoli Detachment of Marion, Indiana. Judi takes pride and pleasure in helping/assisting all Veterans and their families. Judi's motto for all Women Marines is, "fewer and prouder." Petty Officer Jordan, a 2012 Pike H.S. graduate is deployed in Japan aboard the U.S.S. Germantown. She's currently a culinary specialist. Lt. Col. John Stuart- U.S. Air Force Lt. Col Stuart is considered MIA from the Vietnam war. The B-52 pilot was shot down during the Christmas bombings at the end of 1972. The DPAA is still investigating the case. Stuart's son is planning a memorial with full honors despite his father's body not being recovered. It's being planned at Arlington Cemetery, July 26th 2019, which is also Lt. Col. Stuart's birthday. Reeves- USMC, 1970-1972 Mr. Reeves joined the Speedway Fire Department in 1977, staying with them until 1980 when he was hired on with the Indianapolis Fire Department. Mr. Reeves served the city for 36 years, retiring in December 2016. Kevan Crawley- U.S. Army, 24 Years. Mr. Crawley also has 23 years of service with IFD Lance Cpl. Cameron Carr- USMC, Active Duty Lance Langsford- U.S. Army, 38 Years of Service. Currently serving the city of Indianapolis as a Captain with IFD. Robert H. Miller- U.S. Army Air Corps., WWII Sgt. Connor Fishers- U.S. Army, Active Duty SSgt. Stephan Hall- U.S. Air Force, 1970-1974. Current Captain with IFD and has been with IFD for 33 years. Sgt. Thomas Kraeszig- USMC, 2003-2011 MSgt. Carl Tate & MSgt. Pamela Tate-Baird- U.S. Army. This father-daughter duo has more than 50 years of service combined. Mr. Tate served 24 years, part of it during the Vietnam War. Mrs. Tate-Baird served 29 years, doing one tour in Iraq. Clarence Poor- USMC, 1964-1967 David Lee Fields- U.S. Army, 1965-1968 Hunter Banks- U.S. Air Force, Active Duty Sgt. John King- U.S. Army, 1964-1984 President Benjamin Harrison- Union Army, Company "A" of the Indiana 70th Regiment. President was a Colonel for the regiment and used his own money to train men at a camp on Indianapolis's west side. President Harrison was inducted into the 2017 Class of the Indiana Military Veteran's Hall of Fame last November. Lt. Col. Dale Crafton- U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Crafton was awarded the Silver Star for his heroic actions in October 1966 in Vietnam. With Complete disregard for his own safety, the Colonel moved his platoon in a series of strategic assaults against a heavily fortified enemy, eventually defeating them. Lt. Col. Crafton was just inducted into the 2017 class of the Indiana Military Veteran's Hall of Fame. Sgt. Eugene Krachenfels- U.S. Army Air Corps., WWII. Sgt. Krachenfels served as a radio operator, he was shot down during his first mission over Germany in November 1944. When returning home, he served with IPD for 20 plus years. 1st Lt. George Ferkes- U.S. Air Force. Lt. Ferkes was awarded the Silver Star after coming to the aid of an allied unit in June 1971 during the Vietnam War. He ordered air strikes to turn back the enemy, allowing the friendly unit to relocate to new defensive positions. Lt. Ferkes was inducted into the 2017 class of the Indiana Military Veteran's Hall of Fame. Petty Officer First Class Kevin Tipton Jr.- U.S. Navy. Petty Officer Tipton was named the U.S. 7th Fleet Inaugural Fleet Sea Sailor of the year in March. Lt. Col. Richard Storm- U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Storm earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions in Vietnam in September 1969. Despite deteoriating weather and enemy forces, Storm repeatedly landed his aircraft to extract wounded allies until all were safe. Lt. Col. Storm was inducted into the 2017 Class of the Indiana Military Veteran's Hall of Fame. MSgt. Aaron Avery, U.S. Air Force, 20+ years of service. MSgt. Aaron spent 22 of those years flying aboard the C-17 in the 16th Special Operation Squardron 437th Airlift Wing. He has over 10,000 flight hours.
