INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indy 500 practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was temporarily stalled after IndyCar driver Spencer Pigot hit the wall during Tuesday.
Pigot, 22, made impact with the wall in Turn 1. He was brought to the track’s care center to be checked out, but he was cleared and released a short time later.
Pigot signed with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing this year for three Verizon IndyCar Series events: Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Angies’ List Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
It will be Pigot’s first Indy 500 race. According to the rookie’s website, he says his dream is to “become a Verizon IndyCar driver and win the Indianapolis 500.”
