INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Fallen Indianapolis Police Department Officer Jake Laird had a special seat at his daughter’s wedding more than a decade after his death.

Kaylee was just 7-years-old in 2004 when her father was killed in the line after responding to a call of a man walking in a neighborhood street with a rifle.

As Kaylee, now 19, was making arrangements for her wedding she knew she wanted her father to have a special place on her big day.

She hung her father’s jacket on a chair with his picture, and she attached a locket with his picture to her bouquet so her father could be with her as she walked down the aisle.

Kaylee married Jacob Prater on Saturday evening at the Crane Bay Event Center.

The group Indy Going Blue for IMPD shared a picture from the wedding on their Facebook page.
