JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — A multi-vehicle crash on State Road 37 in Johnson County sent four people to the hospital and closed the road for several hours.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were sent to a crash involving a semi and five other vehicles on State Road 37 North just south of Smith Valley Road around 7 Tuesday morning.

Police say drivers on SR 37 were stopped at a traffic light at Smith Valley Road when they were hit from behind by a semi. Investigators say the semi driver was distracted before he looked up and saw the traffic but was unable to stop.
Four people were taken to an Indianapolis hospital. In an update Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said the injuries are not life-threatening.
State Road 37 was closed for six hours for northbound drivers at State Road 144 to Smith Valley Road.
