INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a trash truck rolled over on Indy’s northwest side on Wednesday.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred just after noon near the intersection of W. 71st Street and Georgetown Road.

Police confirmed that at least one individual died as a result of the accident.

Pike Township Fire Department confirmed a trash truck rolled over as part of the crash.

Police have not clarified how many other vehicles, if any, were involved. A photo from the scene of the crash does appear to show a damaged vehicle, however.

Traffic in the area is expected to be impacted for several hours, according to IMPD.

At this time, no further information has been released as the investigation continues.
