Star Derry joined the CBS 4 Weather Authority in March of 2018.

Star earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Climatology & Hydrology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. Star’s meteorology career has kept her close to home. She grew up in Tinley Park, Illinois and was lucky enough to start her career at WIFR in Rockford, Illinois. After that, Star moved to WKOW in Madison, Wisconsin. After living in the Badger state, Star made the trip to WTTV here in Indianapolis. Star specializes in severe weather coverage and climatology.

Outside of work, Star spends her time on the trails with her horse, Kentucky Rain or playing with her cat, Alice.

    Fantastic day to head over to Grand Park and enjoy watching the Colts practice!  The weather will be ideal for both fans and players as cooler, drier air is pouring in.  No rain expected today, so no delays anticipated.   • Tracking the last of rain before dry weather sticks

    One last hefty downpour this morning before we see our rain chances drop off significantly for the rest of the day. Indianapolis got a little under three quarters of an inch of rain Monday with higher totals northwest of the city.     High pressure centers over us today meaning a beautiful blue sky start to finish on our Thursday. A cold front will push rain into Illinois today but won’t be a problem for us here at home.   • Gorgeous weather continues; rain to return by weekend

    Gorgeous day ahead!  High pressure remains in control, so we’re expecting loads of sunshine and a refreshing northerly breeze today.  The morning is again a little chilly as many of us dropped to the upper 50s.  We’ll heat up into the mid 70s by noon and then a high of 82 later this afternoon.     After the third heat wave of 2019 brought us five consecutive 90-degree days, Monday’s 76 felt downright chilly under a cloudy sky.  Today, we’ll feel much warmer because temperatures will climb to 80 PLUS we’ll be sunny.  The average high this time of year is 85, so we’ll be comfortably just below that.
