  • Five people rescued during Speedway apartment fire

    SPEEDWAY, Ind. — No injuries are being reported after an early morning apartment fire in Speedway. The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the 2300 block of Hermitage Way. When fire crews arrived, they had to rescue 5 people off balconies. One cat died in the fire. Fire officials say the fire originated on the second floor of the three-story building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Two separate shootings overnight injure two people in Indianapolis. The first shooting took place around 11 p.m. Saturday night. It happened in the 3100 block of N. Sherman Drive. Homicide detectives responded. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The second shooting took place around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night near the corner of 33rd Street and Schofield Avenue. The victim was transported to the hospital in good condition

  • Car fire kills one person overnight in Indianapolis

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — One person is dead following a vehicle fire overnight. The fire happened around 5 a.m. near 79th Street and River Road on the north side of Indianapolis. Police at the scene said it appears a driver failed to negotiate a turn, causing the car to crash. The car flipped upside down, caught fire, and the driver died inside. Emergency crews are on scene.     INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — IMPD’s “Operation First Step” continues with the arrest of two individuals suspected of dealing drugs.   • IMPD’s largest operation in history leads to 26 arrests

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Twenty-six known offenders and drug dealers were taken into custody Saturday during the largest operation in IMPD history. Officers worked with state and federal law enforcement to target homes around the Indianapolis area. The areas selected were based on an analysis of the social disorder index, which includes narcotics related homicides, aggravated assaults, crime reporting, and other criminal activity.   • Shooting near IMS injures 2

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Two people were reportedly shot just blocks from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday night. The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. at Scotty’s Georgetown Lounge on W. 30th Street. According to IMPD officers on scene, two people were shot. They were taken to Eskenazi Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Aggravated assault detectives are investigating. No suspect was on the scene when officers initially arrived.
