Jesse joined Fox59 and CBS4Indy as a general assignment reporter in July 2015.

This is his second stint working in the Hoosier state. He also worked for 3 years at the NBC affiliate in Fort Wayne.

Outside of Indiana Jesse worked at stations in Sioux City, Green Bay and most recently for 8 great years in Oklahoma City.

During his time as a Sooner, Jesse specialized in covering crime stories and spent nearly every day at the “cop shop”.

He also won an Emmy for covering the deadly May 20th 2013 tornado when several kids died inside Plaza Towers Elementary school.

Jesse is a born and bred Hawkeye. He grew up in the Quad Cities and went to school at the University of Iowa.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude, the highest honor given by the University, in May 1999 with degrees in both Journalism and Film Studies.

After college he met his wife Jennifer while working in Fort Wayne and the two have been married since 2007. They also have two beautiful kids. Ryne (as of July 2015) is 4 years old. Elizabeth is just 8 months old.

Taking care of his wife and kids is the most important thing in Jesse’s life. Jesse enjoyed his time working at KFOR in Oklahoma City, but moved back to Indy to be closer to family.

In his free time, Jesse is a huge college sports fan. Tracking him down on Saturdays in the fall isn’t hard. He’s almost always watching college football.

Jesse is also an avid movie buff. “Movies aren’t that different from news,” Jesse explains. “They’re both centered on people and their stories. Of course Hollywood uses more CGI, but for human drama it’s hard to top the evening news.”

He’s excited to be back in Indiana. Feel free to contact him with questions or story ideas at jwells@fox59.com.
