    Finally, Spring is here. Our Thursday will begin with clouds and a few sprinkles. Skies will clear late in the afternoon and we’ll have warmer temperatures with highs near 50 degrees.     We are counting down the final few hours of winter. Spring officially begins Wednesday at 5:58 p.m. We’ll start the day with a light rain/snow mix over our far northern counties. Our wintry mix will change to rain as temperatures rise by mid-morning and light rain will linger through the day, into the evening.     INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– We have just one more day of winter before spring starts. This has been a rather mild winter with seasonal snow seven inches below average.  Our heaviest snow 6.9″, accumulated on January 12th. We had our usual wild temperature swings this winter.   • Snow showers for the final weekend of winter

    The final weekend of winter is here and we have snow in the forecast. So far this season we’ve had 5 days with at least 1″ of snow, 8 days is the seasonal average. We’ve measured 18.1″ of snow, almost 7″ below average for the season. For the weekend expect highs in the 40s with sunny skies on Saturday.   • Two tornadoes struck south central Indiana Thursday afternoon

    The  National Weather Service in Indianapolis confirms that there was an EF1 tornado in Jackson County,  3-miles north of Brownstown at 2:06pm Thursday. Maximum winds were estimated at 95 mph. The path of the tornado was 40 yards wide and 1.25 miles long. Another storm-damaged area in Jackson, County near Medora, is being investigated by the National Weather Service to determine whether there was more than one tornado Thursday afternoon.
