    As predicted, Indianapolis woke up to a second day of single-digit, record cold. A low of 9 degrees broke the old record of 10 degrees set back in 1986.   • Hoosiers will wake up to record cold temperatures Wednesday

    Central Indiana’s winter preview has turned into a record setting week. On Monday we received 2.8″ of snow, breaking the record for the date and the record for snow depth. On Tuesday we dropped to a record low temperature of 8 degrees, breaking the record low of 14 degree set back in 1911.     Indianapolis set a daily snow fall record on Monday. The previous record was 1.2″ snow set back in 1995. With an official measurement of 2.3″ and a preliminary unofficial measurement of 2.8″. Either way, the previous record was exceeded by 1″. Heavier totals of up to 4″ were common north of I-70. Now comes the second major weather issue for central Indiana.   • Snow covers roads ahead of brutal wind chills

    One to two inches of snow covered roads across central Indiana Monday evening. Heavier 2-3″ totals were common north of I-70. The combination of gusty winds and moderate snow combined to limit visibility through the evening.  Unseasonably cold temperatures will cause roads to “flash freeze” in just a few hours tonight.     Our weekend will start near-record cold on Saturday morning with lows in the teens. With sunny skies, we’ll see a slight warm-up over the weekend with highs in the 40s on Saturday and in the 50s on Sunday. After a milder, dry Sunday, we’ll have a stronger cold surge of cold air moving in early next week.
