Brittany joined the Fox 59 Weather Authority in November of 2015. She has spent the past 8 years forecasting weather across the country moving from state to state.
Her love of weather started when she was in elementary school. She would wake up an hour early before school just to watch the news and especially the weather forecast. Growing up in Florida she was fascinated by the strong afternoon storms brought on by the sea breeze. During hurricane season she was glued to the television, watching the meteorologists track the storm’s path and their development.
Ever since then she has worked to become a meteorologist. She attended Florida State University, one of the top 3 meteorology schools in the country. She graduated in 3 years with her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a minor in mathematics.
Following graduation she headed out west to Missoula, Montana for her first job, working as the weekend meteorologist. Having spent her entire life in Florida the blizzards, 40 degree below wind chills, and copious amounts of snow were quite the adjustment. After spending a year walking on sheets of ice to get to her car, having her dog disappear in the snow and not being able to wear enough layers to get warm she moved a little further south.
Her next stop was in Hastings, Nebraska. She spent the next 2 years in the plains forecasting every manner of weather from blizzards to tornados. She started as the weekend meteorologist then moved into the weekday evening position.
From there she moved to Huntington, West Virginia as the weekend meteorologist. She covered weather for the entire state, putting together separate forecasts for 4 different regions each weekend.
She moved back to tornado alley and landed in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 3 years. She spent most of the spring seasons in the weather center with her team covering tornados for hours at a time. During quiet weather she got to be a part of some incredible events; including driving the lead car in the Mid America Ford Shelby Nationals on cruise night, playing a walk on role during Shakespeare in the Park, and helping out with the Philbrook Museum’s Festival of Trees.
She is thrilled to be in Indianapolis and exploring all the city has to offer. You can find Brittany out bike riding with her little dog. A sassy Italian greyhound/Manchester terrier mix named Squiggy. She also loves to do yoga, bake, watch movies and of course shop.
