MOUNT SUMMIT, Ind. — Police are investigating  a child’s death after being found Friday morning in a swimming pool outside his family’s Henry County home.

Henry County Coroner Steve Hacker says 3-year-old Kyler Shelton was pronounced dead at Henry County Hospital.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said the boy was found in a pool after his parents noticed he was no longer in the house.

Coroner Hacker said that in spite of child proof locks that were securely in place, the boy managed to climb the gate and apparently fell into the pool.

Efforts by emergency crews to revive the boy were unsuccessful.

An autopsy will be performed Saturday according to Coroner Hacker.
