INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a man has died and a woman is in the hospital after being shot on the city's near northeast side.
Around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, police say they were flagged down in the 3300 block of North Sherman Drive for a person shot. Officers found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
The woman told police that the shooting occurred in the 2900 block of North Dearborn Street. When police arrived at the location, they found an adult male who had also been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner's office identified him as 39-year-old Albert Germany.
"Anyone who has seen something we do continue to advice them what we always said: see something, say something. This is your community. Call us," IMPD public information office Genae Cook said.
Neighbors say the stretch of Dearborn where the shooting happened sees a constant flow of gun violence.
“That street is a trouble street. It's trouble, man," said Truitt Devoe.
" I don’t know what's wrong with them, they don’t fight with fists anymore. They use guns,” he added.
IMPD says homicide detectives are investigating.
No one is in custody at this time.
