UPDATE: Police locate missing 10-year-old boy safely on city’s southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A 10-year-old boy who went missing Monday has been located and he is safe, according to police.

Family says the child had ran away from IPS School 114 at 2251 S. Sloan Street after being sent to in school suspension.

Before the boy was found, police described him as being about 4 feet 6 inches tall, around 75 pounds, and had a brown short afro haircut and brown eyes.

Indianapolis Public Schools issued the following statement after the boy was found:

“A fourth grade student at Paul I. Miller School 114 went missing today after running out of the building. School administrators immediately called IPS Police and joined in the search for the student. After an extensive search by IPS Police, Indianapolis Metro Police and staff, the student was located nearby by an IPS officer. We are thankful the student is safely home with his family and commend our school staff and law enforcement for their diligence in locating him.”
