Southbound lanes of I-65 back open on south side after Greyhound bus fire

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– A Greyhound bus fire caused lanes of southbound I-65 to close near I-465 Thursday on the city’s south side.

The fire started around 11:50 a.m. Indiana State Police believe the fire was found an engine in the back of the bus, but an official cause has not been determined. An ISP trooper saw the fire and acted quickly to help, police say.

Fourty-four people were on the bus and all were able to get off safely. No injuries were reported and most of the luggage was salvaged.

Another bus was sent to pick up the passengers so they could continue their trip.

The lanes reopened before 3 p.m.
