West says that it is important understand the experience of the real estate agent that they could be working with. “It is not always the years in the business, it is more of what is their experience to help you find or help you sell the home in the neighborhood or market that you are in.”
Finding a real estate agent that will listen to your goals, needs and wants is key when you are trying to buy or sell a home. West recommends speaking with a real estate agent even if you are a few years away from potentially buying or selling a home. “A lot of people don’t understand some of the things they do financially can affect their ability to get a mortgage and then get the house of their dreams.”
He adds that a lot of people begin the process by looking online about 12-18 months before they even contact a real estate agent. “The advice that a trusted advisor can give is really valuable for them to have a smooth transaction. The earlier they contact an agent, the better,” West said.
