Original Story:

CHESTERFIELD, Ind. – Authorities are investigating a double shooting in Chesterfield that killed a Muncie woman.

Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger says officers were dispatched to the scene in the area of Pass St. and Mulberry St. just after 7 p.m.

The Sheriff said 20-year-old Jalynn N. Harman died from her injuries. An unidentified man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, four people were home at the time of the shooting.

A female roommate invited the suspect over and didn't realize he and her roommate--the male shooting victim--didn't get along. The male victim thought it was an attempted robbery, and witnesses said eight to ten shots were fired inside the home as the two men exchanged gunfire.

Harman was hit during the exchanged and died at an Anderson hospital. Her mother said her daughter overdosed two weeks ago and believes she fell in with the wrong crowd. She'd just turned 20 on Friday.

Police said the shooting suspect left the scene and was later found in Anderson. The house where this happened had been under investigation for possible drug activity, police said.
