Accident closes all lanes of southbound I-69 near I-465, three people seriously injured
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -Three people were seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a crash on the ramp from I-69 southbound to Interstate 465 South.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 for nearly 45 minutes while emergency crews worked to rescue the injured and clean up the scene.
State police say a Toyota driven by 61 year-old Edna Harsley of Indianapolis, crashed into the back of a motorcycle. Both vehicles left the roadway with the Toyota ending upside down on railroad tracks under the interstate.
The motorcycle was driven by Jack Hubbard with Deanna Hubbard riding as a passenger. Police say neither were wearing helmets. Both are listed in critical but stable condition.
Harsley suffered serious non-live threatening injuries.
Investigators believe excessive speed could have been a factor. Harsley was cited for following too closely and speeding too fast to avoid a collision.
