5 foot deep sinkhole closes Carmel intersection

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Crews are still on the scene trying to repair a massive sinkhole in Carmel Friday morning.

It is at the intersection of E. 96th St. and College Ave.

Authorities say that the sinkhole is approximately 12 feet by 18 feet and 5 feet deep. We’re told heavy rain caused the sewer to collapse.

Right right, a portion of 96th Westbound is closed. Drivers . Drivers trying to get between Westfield Boulevard and College along Real Street/96th street still will be able to from the Westfield Boulevard.

No word on when the street is set to reopen.
