INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a partial roof collapse Friday at Chatham Manor Apartments.

The apartment complex is located at 708 East 11th Street in downtown Indianapolis.

IFD says workers making repairs to the roof escaped injury after the ridgeline of the roof gave way and collapsed into the building.Occupants of the building were able to evacuate on their own after the roof caved in.

Workers told firefighters that a load of shingles was on the roof but it is unclear whether or not that load played a part. The building is uninhabitable due to the compromise of the structural integrity and it is unclear how long the 25 displaced residents will be without a home.

No injuries were reported.
