INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Drivers hit the road with caution Sunday morning after ice wreaked havoc on the interstate system around Indianapolis Saturday.

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) updated travel conditions in the early hours of Sunday to primarily “fair” in the counties surrounding Indianapolis. But parts of I-65 and US-31 in Johnson County were marked as “difficult” before being upgraded to “fair” by 8:00 a.m.

INDOT dispersed more than 700 yellow plow trucks throughout the entire Hoosier state to improve road conditions. Drivers experienced some slick and icy patches on certain overpasses and less-traveled roads. Strong winds worsened conditions, however, drivers saw a great improvement from the debilitating conditions Saturday.
