GREENWOOD, Ind. – Greenwood police released suspect and victim information after a fatal shooting on Thursday.

The shooting happened in the 500 block of North Meridian Street around 10:20 a.m.

According to police, Karin Castro, 21, Roberto Wangeman, 28, Tania Chaves, 24, and a 17-year-old male were dropped off at the Greenwood home for a confrontation with residents Felipe Zaragoza, 20, and his 24-year-old brother, Jose.

During the confrontation, multiple shots were fired from several people. Castro was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old male suffered a bullet wound to the chest and was transported to Eskenazi. Zaragoza was shot in the leg and treated and released.

Chaves was arrested for auto theft and taken to the Johnson County Jail.

The exact motive is still under investigation, but police say the violence may be drug related.  Investigators do not think the shooting is a random act of violence.

“Obviously the suspects and victims, something brought them here together.  This isn’t wealthy a neighborhood so you don’t see random home robberies in neighborhood like this cause there’s not much to get,” said Greenwood assistant police chief Matthew Fillenwarth.
