State police investigate inmate’s death at Plainfield Correctional Facility
PLAINFIELD, Ind. – Police are investigating a homicide at Plainfield Correctional Facility following the death of an inmate.
According to the personal information officer at the facility, inmate Curtis Cash, 48, of Indianapolis, was found in his cell in respiratory distress at 6:13 a.m. from an apparent altercation.
Staff began life saving procedures and called emergency medical personnel. Cash was transported to Hendricks County Hospital and later transferred him to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital at 1:13pm.
Cash was sentenced out of Putnam County for burglary with a projected release date of May 5, 2018.
The incident is currently under investigation by the facility’s Information and Intelligence Office and the Indiana State Police. An autopsy and toxicology testing will be conducted by the Marion County Coroner.
