NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Newtown community paused Wednesday to mark the somber fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The city paused for a moment of silence to honor the victims. Gov. Dan Malloy directed that flags be flown at half-staff.

On Dec. 14, 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six educators at the school. He’d fatally shot his mother before carrying out the school massacre and eventually killed himself.
