LIGONIER, Ind. — Northern Indiana authorities have uncovered what they call a “surprisingly” well-organized drug ring that sold marijuana products to high school students.

The Noble County Prosecutor’s Office says the investigation was sparked by drug-related incidents involving several West Noble School Corp. students.

The Journal Gazette reports police and DEA agents seized a large amount of marijuana and cash during a raid on a home in Ligonier, about 40 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.

A 16-year-old West Noble High School student has been detained in the ongoing investigation.

Prosecutor Eric Blackman says the teen was apparently bringing pounds of marijuana and marijuana-laced items such as candy suckers into Ligonier. That juvenile may have traveled to California and Colorado to get the drugs.

Blackman calls the drug ring “surprisingly large and well-organized.”
