WHITESTOWN, Ind. –The Whitestown Fire Department channeled the popular Mannequin Challenge to raise awareness about drug overdoses.

The agency staged what the scene looks like after an overdose, describing what each of the first responders do in order to try to help that person.

The department says they wanted to highlight how drugs affect the entire community.

“Somebody asked, ‘Is this a little too much for kids to see?’ But I would rather a child see this now and learn the lesson and remember later in life when they`re making choices than to not have that information available to them,” said Clinton Crafton, Deputy Chief of Operations.

Whitestown was one of the first cities in the state to give first responders Narcan. In the past eight months, they’ve used it seven times.
