Man dies after shooting on city’s near southeast side; robbery possible motive

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a fatal shooting on the city’s near southeast side.

According to IMPD, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Barrington Avenue just after midnight Tuesday. Police found Jason Alexander, 25, suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Alexander was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries several hours after arriving at the hospital, police said.

Detectives believe Alexander was shot during a robbery and said several people may have witnessed the shooting and are asking them to “do the right thing” and come forward. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
