Man sent to hospital in critical condition after being shot, crashing vehicle on near northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A man was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition after he crashed a vehicle on the near northwest side Saturday.

Police were dispatched to the crash in the 2300 block of Lafayette Road around 3 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the vehicle with “heavy damage.”

Medics arrived shortly after and started assessing the male victim. They came to the conclusion that he had been shot.

Officers say they recovered shell casings on Lafayette Road, but they don’t have any other information about other people or vehicles involved in the incident.

Police say homicide detectives are taking over the investigation.
