From September-like warmth to a December-like chill

From September to December. That's weather change Hoosiers will feel as we go from Friday to Saturday. A strong cold front will bring that change. Ahead of the front we'll have near record highs on Friday before rain and t-storms move in late Friday through Friday night. Behind the front the coldest air of the season will settle in for the weekend. In fact, we'll be so cold that our first hard freeze of the season is likely over the next few days.


Thursday was our 24th day of the fall with a high in the 70s.


Low temperatures will only fall into the 50s overnight.


Rain develops over west central Indiana by 5pm Friday.


Rain is likely in Indianapolis by 7pm.


Rain moves into east central Indiana by 9pm.


Less than a half inch of rain is likely through Saturday morning.


Flurries will be possible over north central Indiana on Saturday.


A hard freeze is likely early next week.
