3 people arrested on murder and robbery charges after fatal shooting in Henry County

SPICELAND, Ind. – Police arrested three people following an early Sunday morning shooting in Spiceland that left one person dead.

According to the Henry County Prosecutor’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. Sunday about shots fired at 6251 S. 325 W. in Spiceland. Deputies arrived minutes after the call and found two people who’d suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Chancellor Smith, 23, went to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he later died from his injuries. Jessie Fulton, 23, went to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment. Fulton’s condition wasn’t immediately known.

During the investigation into the shooting, police discovered that Tyler Pennington, 27, had also been shot. Late Sunday evening, police arrested Pennington along with Camron Perkins, 26, and Devin Asberry, 24. All three are preliminarily charged with murder and robbery, prosecutors said.

An autopsy for Smith was scheduled for Monday in Marion County.
