IMPD standoff involving man with gun comes to peaceful resolution

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police said a standoff ended peacefully on the near north side Friday afternoon.

The situation began around 9:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Boulevard Place when a woman driving by reported seeing someone point a rifle at her. The man then ran inside the house when police arrived. The SWAT unit was then called in.

After several hours, a woman left the house.  Neighbors believe the man climbed through an attic to get to the other side of the duplex. The man surrendered without further incident around 12:40 p.m. Police found a rifle and several other weapons at the scene.

Neighbors said they don’t feel safe living in this area of town.

“I was in shock, so now it’s all just setting in really that this is where I live,” said Cashay Patton. She added, “I’m leaving though. I’m not staying here anymore. It’s crazy.”

No injures were reported during the standoff. Police said no shots were fired.
