IU police: 2 sexual assault cases reported over the weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Police in Bloomington are investigating a pair of reported sexual assaults from the weekend.

According to Indiana University police, a 19-year-old woman said a male acquaintance sexually assaulted her at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house, 1412 N. Jordan Ave., Saturday afternoon.

The woman said the assault happened around 2:45 p.m. Saturday after the 22-year-old man invited her to a room to continue drinking at the fraternity house. Police were dispatched around 9 p.m. to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where the woman gave a statement and underwent a sexual assault examination.

Police were looking for potential witnesses in the case and wanted to interview the 22-year-old man. IU police said the fraternity was cooperating with the investigation.

A second sexual assault was also reported from the weekend. In that case, a woman went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination. IU police said the woman wanted to stay anonymous and didn’t ask for an investigation into the matter at the time.
