Indianapolis man, 86, robbed by man claiming to be electrical worker

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say an 86-year-old Indianapolis man was the victim of a strong-armed robbery in the driveway of his west side residence.

Police were called to the 4400 block of Bertha Street just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police the suspect was a white male, 35-42 years old, 6’1″ tall and 220 pounds. The suspect was wearing a workman’s hat with the letter “U” both sides. He arrived in a large pickup truck and claimed to be investigating an “electrical problem.”

The suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet from his hand and pushed him backwards onto the driveway before driving off.

The victim said he had a sore back, and declined transport to the hospital.
