INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police arrested a Pennsylvania man in Indianapolis who is accused of attempting to conceal a crash that killed his girlfriend.

Kevin Bell, 39, was taken into custody Monday afternoon at St. Vincent Hospital. Bell was found injured three days after crashing his SUV.

Bell was driving the vehicle. His girlfriend, Nikki Reed, was in the passenger seat. Police say the vehicle veered off the highway on Sept. 17, went down an embankment and hit a tree head-on.

Three days later, a passerby found Bell in the vehicle. He had suffered a leg injury. According to police, Bell lied about how he sustained his injuries and did not initially tell officers he had been in a crash or that Reed was dead in the vehicle.

Reed’s family reported her missing on Sept. 18. Police spent days searching for her before her body was found in the vehicle.

Bell is currently at the Marion County jail awaiting legal proceedings in Jennings County. His charges include leaving the scene of a deadly accident, failing to report a dead body and providing false information.
