Pedestrian dies after being struck on I-74 in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — A male pedestrian was struck and killed on I-74 in Shelby County Monday night.

Police say it happened near the 109 mile marker, just east of Fairland.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene around 8:41 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man dead due to massive trauma.

Deputies say evidence at the scene shows that the man was crossing I-74, when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound.

The striking vehicle was also at the scene when officers arrived.

The sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate.
