SHELBYVILLE, Ind.– Indiana State Police troopers made a new four-legged friend Friday afternoon.

The troopers rescued a kitten in the median of I-74 near Shelbyville. Sgt. Scudder, who transported the kitty to the Shelby County Animal Shelter, named it “Trooper Gannon” after the trooper who rescued it.

ISP says the kitten is up for adoption at the shelter, located at 705 Hale Road. It’s unclear if the animal needed any medical assistance; the shelter was closed when we tried to contact them Friday evening.
