Bloomington man arrested after allegedly inappropriately touching young girl
Update: Whiteside was convicted of child molesting fondling or touching with child under 14. He was sentenced to 6 years with jail credit 279 days.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A Bloomington man was arrested Friday after her allegedly inappropriately touched a girl younger than 14.
Ronnie L. Whiteside, 56, faces a preliminarily charge of child molesting, a Level 4 felony.
It’s not the fist time Whiteside has been charged. He was also convicted of rape in Bartholomew County in 1994 and was released from jail in 2009, according to the sex offender registry list.
During the investigation, Whiteside admitted to his prior conviction and being listed on the registered sex offender list, but he denied the most recent charges.
Police and the Indiana Department of Child Services were notified of the alleged incident after the victim told a staff member at her school that it happened at a residence early Friday. She was then taken to Susie’s Place for interviews.
