INDIANAPOLIS – Emergency crews were called to the east side this morning after they say a car crashed into a home near East 11th Street and North Kealing Avenue.

According to police, a suspected drunk driver crashed through a fence and partially into the basement of a home in the 1100 block of North Kealing Ave.

The homeowners told officers the crash woke them up and they recognized the driver as a neighbor of theirs. The homeowners walked the driver home.

When they returned home, officers say the homeowners realized the damage was worse than they originally thought, and that is when they contacted IMPD.

According to police officials, the driver had a preliminary BAC of .228 and a prior drunk driving conviction from 2012.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene. The homeowners were not injured.
