Robert Mathis

At 35 years old, he’s the unquestioned leader of the Indianapolis Colts defense.

Robert Mathis holds the franchise record for sacks with 118 in his career. He ranks 20th on the NFL’s all-time sack list, trailing former teammate Dwight Freeney by 1.5 sacks.

The Colts drafted Mathis in 2003 out of Alabama A&M. He’s played his entire NFL career in Indianapolis.

Here are 4 things to know about the Colts linebacker:

1. He’s a big music fan!

Mathis counts “Shout” from the Isley Brothers as one of his favorite songs.

His current favorite is more contemporary—“Motivation” by T.I.

2. In his 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, he’s become a fan of the Indiana Pacers. His favorite baseball team, however, is the Atlanta Braves.


3. His favorite movie of all time is the 1999 comedy Life with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.

4. Mathis counts soul food as his favorite food.
