Coroner says Indianapolis woman died of chop wounds to head, police investigate death as homicide

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say they are now investigating the death of a woman in June as a homicide, according to Maj. Riddle.

 The body of Jeannie Howard, 38, was found on the city’s southeast side in the early morning hours of Friday, June 24.

According to authorities, officers were called to the intersection of Senour Road and Troy Avenue on reports of a person down.

The located Howard at the scene, and she was pronounced dead.

According the Marion County Coroner’s Office, Howard’s cause of death was chop wounds to the head – combined sharp and blunt force trauma.

IMPD is now investigating Howard’s death as a homicide. There have been no arrests made in the case, Riddle said.
