HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. – The Hamilton County Humane Society is desperately seeking help to relieve their shelter after receiving an overwhelming amount of animals over the past several weeks, many of which have been neglected.

A 3-month-old puppy is among the organization’s neglected animals. She was surrendered to a local veterinarian’s office to be euthanized because her owner had reportedly allowed her demodex mange to progress to the point where her skin was burning, swollen and infected.

The Humane Society is also caring for a group of emaciated American Bulldogs who were used for breeding. They came to the shelter with life-threatening injuries after an animal control investigation.

The shelter is also caring for a cat, surrendered after being bathed in water so hot that it resulted in third degree burns on its legs.

Some of the animals in the shelter were not neglected, but were “nonchalantly” given up, some because they were “too old.”

The Humane Society says the influx of animals has filled every kennel and cage they have, which is why they’re introducing a special offer this Labor Day weekend. They say all of their dogs, with the exception of the American Bulldogs will be available for adoption for just $25, while cats are available for $15 and they’re offering a “rescue one get one free” feline special.

Applications may be submitted online for pre-review. If you can’t adopt, you can donate to the shelter here.
