COLUMBUS, Ind. - It's a new location for a popular Indiana brewery! Upland Brewing recently renovated a historic building in downtown Columbus.

Columbus is well-known across the world for its unique architecture. The Pump House sits right along the White River. The Upland location is just three minutes off I-65.

"[The White River has] 115 year old bones. We used to pull water out of the White River to source the city, something to drink, something to use. It is still pumping something out . Now it’s beer, when it used to be water," explains Pump House General Manager Jacob Fehrenbach.

The Pump House is 16-thousand square feet of history. The entire building was restored for this new Upland Brewery.

"We wanted to keep all the archways and glass," says Fehrenbach.

Customers at the beautiful brewery can sit outside and enjoy an Upland beer right along the White River. The giant patio is dog-friendly too!

"When you get on the patio, you can barely hear traffic heading to and from town because the river takes over that traffic noise. With the help of Columbus businessman Tony Moravec and Upland Brewing Company, we ended up with this spectacular space," says Fehrenbach.

The Pump House offers 14 Upland beers on tap. Twelve of those are dedicated to ales and lagers.

"Our beer is crisp, defiantly refreshing and rounded is a big word," says Fehrenbach.

The other two taps pour Upland's popular sours beer.

"If you’re not a beer drinker or want to broaden your knowledge, the sours are a good way to do that. It’s kinda like a sweet tart and a traditional beer," explains Brittany Smith from Yelp Indy.

Smith says Upland Brewing is already very popular on Yelp. The menu focuses on pub food with locally sourced items.

The new Columbus Pump House is the sixth Upland Brewing location in Indiana.

"This is exciting because they are taking a historical building in Columbus and reaching out to a new community," says Smith.
