INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Police were called to Monument Circle Monday after the discovery of suspicious packages.

The Circle was closed for lunch hour after IMPD called in the explosive ordnance disposal team. Police said there appeared to be “no significant threat” in connection with the case.

According to Sgt. Kendale Adams, IMPD Flex Team officers were on the Circle when they came across a man who said he was a Marine veteran. Adams said the man made comments that were “questionable and not regular,” but didn’t say or do anything that would warrant his arrest, so officers let him go.

A short time later, a nearby business noticed the man drop off three packages: one at the monument, one at a car and another at a mailbox on the northwest corner of the Circle.

Preliminary tests showed no explosive material in the packages, IMPD said. Police gave the “all clear” around 1:40 p.m.
