Former college, pro quarterback Todd Marinovich arrested after being found naked with marijuana
IRVINE, Calif. – Former college and pro quarterback Todd Marinovich was arrested after being found naked with marijuana in someone else’s backyard.
According to the Orange County Register, someone called police around 9 p.m. Friday after seeing Marinovich. Police found him with marijuana and said he had another substance with him that may have been methamphetamine. Police were waiting for test results for the second substance.
Police cited Marinovich for trespassing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, according to Irvine police.
Marinovich, 47, was a star quarterback at USC who was drafted in the first round by the Raiders. He was arrested for cocaine possession after the Sun Bowl in 1990 and entered the NFL draft after the season.
The Raiders selected him 24th overall, but he lasted only two seasons in the NFL after failing a number of drug tests.
Marinovich pleaded guilty to cultivating marijuana at home in 1997 and was also arrested on drug-related charges in 2000 and 2005.
