INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The love and support for the family of fallen Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz continues.

An Indianapolis group collected patches from across the United States and mended them together to create quilts for the family of Deputy Koontz, who was killed in March while serving a warrant.

The meaningful quilts were given to Koontz’s widow Kassie and their young son Noah on Saturday.

Angi Cheeseman, who runs the group “Indy Going Blue for IMPD” said the collection of uniform patches from around the world demonstrates the love and support of the law enforcement community whenever an officer is killed in the line of duty.

Along with the patches on the quilt, a handwritten Valentine’s Day note from Carl to Kassie was also included.
