Pedestrian seriously injured in hit and run

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say a female victim was seriously injured in a hit and run accident on the south side of Indianapolis.

It happened just before 3:30 Sunday morning on Meridian Street, just north of Epler Avenue.  Officers at the scene say the female patient was transported by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital.

IMPD Spokesman Sgt. Kendale Adams said the victim was listed in serious condition, but she was awake and breathing when she was transported.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim left the scene.  No description of the vehicle was immediately available.
