PRINCETON, Mass. — A Google employee killed after going for a jog in Massachusetts may have injured her attacker in a struggle, investigators said this week.

Vanessa Marcotte was visiting her mother in Princeton, Mass., when she went for a run Sunday. She never came back, and investigators found her body Sunday night, WCVB reports.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said the attack happened between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. He appealed to the public Thursday to look for anyone who has recently sustained scratches, scrapes or bruises on their body.

Marcotte, 27, worked for Google as an account manager. Investigators believe a man attacked her and she fought back.

“The assailant, who we know was a man, may have sustained injuries in the struggle, specifically scratches, scrapes and or bruises,” Early said. “Therefore, we are asking anyone who observed a male with these types of injuries that would have been fresh earlier this week to please contact us at the State Police Tipline.”

According to WCVB, a source close to the investigation said Marcotte was found without her clothes and had burns on her head, feet, and hands.
