Police: Jackson County man beat girlfriend, strangled her when she refused to make pancakes
JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. – A Jackson County man was arrested after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and strangled her until she was unconscious because she didn’t make him pancakes.
Tyler David Chaney, of Brownstown, was arrested and faces charges of aggravated battery and strangulation for an incident that occurred on Wednesday.
Police say the responded to a report of a fight around 3:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of South County Road 150 West.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 17-year-old girl had been attacked and she was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
A witness told police that Chaney was mad at the girl because she wouldn’t make him pancakes. Chaney proceeded to hit her in the head several times, bite her, and choke her until she was unconscious.
When residents at the home called police, Chaney fled the scene on foot.
Police located Chaney at an apartment in the 200 block of West Spring Street later that evening.
They booked Chaney into the Jackson County Jail just after 10 p.m., and he is being held without bond until his initial hearing in Jackson Circuit Court.
